(the) Ulster Democratic Unionist Party
the Ulster Democratic Unionist Party [the Ulster Democratic Unionist Party] (also the Democratic Unionist Party)
a political party in Northern Ireland. It is supported mainly by ↑Protestants, and wants Northern Ireland to remain a part of the United Kingdom. It is regarded as having more extreme policies than the ↑Ulster Unionist Party, and was led for many years by Ian Paisley. In 2005 it became the largest Northern Ireland party to be represented in the ↑House of Commons, with nine Members of Parliament.
